Project Overview: Custom stair located in Hudson Yards, New York, NY.
Scope: Custom switch back stair with white oak paneling; steel handrail with integrated LED lighting; glass railing around top opening; cane rail below stair.
Summary: One of the largest challenges was designing a connection detail to hang the wood paneling. The wood covers all sides of the stair, including the bottom, so developing a connection detail with a continuous 1/4" reveal was particularly challenging. We achieved this using z-clip connections and overlapping flanges.
